In February of 2013, Wild Branch's Jeff Everett and I worked with two 4th grades and two 5th grades in Taos, New Mexico. The student's assignment was to create a film no more than 3 minutes about something they passionately cared about. Hover your mouse over the top menu to find the films.
This was Project Based Learning at its best. Students had never had this kind of project before. It was focused, and intensive (90 min/day for three weeks), requiring collaboration and problem solving while learning very new things all supported by a brand new technology platform and infrastructure.
The presentation was on a red carpet in front of their classmates and communities. The movie, "Families and Borders," would have won an Oscar had there been a contest.
